Dominica Steele is a dedicated English major at Colorado State University, pursuing a Bachelor of Arts with a focus on writing and editing. With a strong foundation in both customer service and editorial work, she brings a unique combination of communication skills and meticulous attention to detail to every role she takes on. Dominica has served as a Writing Consultant at CSU's Writing Center, helping students refine and strengthen their writing across various disciplines. She currently holds an editorial role with the Grey Rock Review, where she contributes as a Creative Nonfiction Editor and Copyeditor. Her experience also includes hospitality work with Marriott, where she developed strong team coordination and client service skills in high-paced environments. Actively involved in campus life, Dominica participates in organizations such as the ASL Club, Russian Club, and the National Society of Leadership and Success. Passionate about language, storytelling, and collaboration, she is eager to continue growing her editorial and communication skills while contributing meaningfully to the communities she serves.

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve ever received was to broaden my perspective by reading widely, including classics like Crime and Punishment by Dostoevsky. It taught me the importance of understanding human motivation, ethics, and critical thinking—skills that are just as essential in professional life as they are in literature.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering the industry is to keep moving forward with determination and a strong work ethic—consistency and resilience will open doors and help you grow both personally and professionally.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
As a recent graduate, one of the biggest challenges—and opportunities—in my field is bridging the gap between academic knowledge and real-world application. It’s an exciting time to learn, grow, and gain hands-on experience that builds on the foundation I’ve developed through my education.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Volunteering at my church is a core value in both my personal and professional life—it reflects my commitment to service, community, and making a meaningful impact wherever I can.
